This 50hr Yin Yoga Foundations Training (YYF) is developed those who wish to develop a deeper understanding of the practice and teaching of yin yoga. You will learn about Yin Yoga from a functional view instead of an aesthetic approach, with the purpose of creating an individualized, meaningful experience for the practitioner. This training will focus primarily on functional anatomy, specifically on the tissues that Yin Yoga intends to influence, such as fascia. Yin yoga postures will be analyzed, including target areas and human (skeletal) variations, with the aim to fit the need of each unique individual. The intention of the training is that after completion, you will be able to safely apply foundational knowledge of yin yoga to your own practice and teaching.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin Yoga is deeply rooted in Taoist philosophy and the Chinese Meridian System, which regards the body as an integrated system. The static, long-held postures are ideal for practicing mindfulness methods and stillness. Yin yoga sequences are carefully designed to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deeper layers of connective tissue in the body. On a physical level, yin postures restore and nourish the natural mobility of the joints, specifically of the lower body. On an energetic level, yin yoga targets the body’s meridian system, encouraging a freer flow of energy and supporting emotional balance. Through its practice of stillness, yin yoga prepares both body and mind for deeper experiences in meditation.
